Weather support for AusSnowCam
Jul 31Today I released a new version of AusSnowCam with weather support. The data is currently being derived from BOM’s weather observations.
The phone version of the app displays the information via a popup message. Tablet version will make use of the space under the cam selection list.
Check it out if you haven’t already!
(lol @ the Nokia E6 ad)
How to connect to ADB via WiFi
Jul 31Today I was hacking away at some updates to some of my apps – after accumulating several devices over the last few months, testing my app looks a little something like this
Picture got photobombed by actual Androids (how awesome is my makeshift non-keyboard shoebox stand?)
I was always under the impression that to establish ADB you needed a USB cable – turns out that’s not true.
If you have a rooted device – simply installing something like ADB over WiFi enables you to connect to your device from your PC
I’m now no longer running low on USB slots.
End of a challenge
Jul 28I challenged myself to start continuously blogging again – but I realize I forgot to set an end date.
Recently watched a TED talk by Matt Cutts on trying something new every 30 days.
I’ve nearly been continously blogging for 30 days, so I think I’ll set myself up for another challenge next month.
And of course… blog about it! (duh, that’s a given)
socialflux reborn
Jul 23Finally got around to rebuilding socialflux. It was a project I started a few months ago after I found a really cool theme and thought “What could I do with it?”
Since then, I developed a site which lists social events happening in Melbourne. Providing an alternative to finding events via newsletters, meetup.com, twitter, etc.
After using the site for a few weeks and further building on the idea of sharing social events – I soon noticed the theme wasn’t working out.
The idea socialflux was trying to achieve felt hindered by the very theme which started the idea – therefore it was evident to keep the site going, I had to redevelop it somehow.
(not to mention the site had become a ghost town with zero hits over the last 2 months)
I realized this a month or two back, but never got around to doing anything to fix the problem – finally, after playing with some new plugins, I’ve rebuilt socialflux to take on a completely fresher spin.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the new socialflux.
Addicted to Google+
Jul 14I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks since I got my Google+ invite.
I’m already starting to feel like life without G+ would leave a slight social void in my life.
For today’s blog, I thought I would share some observations based on my experiences with Google+
Note: If you are not on G+ yet – drop me a message/comment/DM and I’ll send you an invite.
